On Friday, Moscow officially announced its withdrawal from the UN World Tourism Organization, which suspended Russia’s membership in April in connection with its military operation in Ukraine.
The government said it “accepted the Foreign Ministry’s proposal … regarding Russia’s withdrawal” from the Madrid body, according to a decree signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The agency suspended Russia’s activities on April 27, saying the operation in Ukraine went against its “values.”
Since then, Russia has become an international pariah and has been excluded from some global organizations. He is also fighting punitive Western sanctions.
