Rita Moreno is ‘excited as hell’ to star in Fast & Furious X.
The 90-year-old actress will play the grandmother of Vin Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto in the tenth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, and both stars are very pleased with the news.
Vin shared a video on Instagram of himself sitting next to Rita and co-star Michelle Rodriguez.
In the video, he said: “I have always dreamed of working with Rita Moreno and the fact that she is here playing my grandmother makes my soul smile.
“I’m so happy.”
The camera then zoomed in on the West Side Story actress, who said, “You know what, I think I got… I guess my old age was waiting for you to invite me. Isn’t that cute?
“The answer is yes, I will. And yes, I not only do it, but also tickle. I’m damn happy to do it. I’m so excited. It will be so much fun!”
After the couple exchanged “I love you” messages, Michelle yelled “Rita Moreno in the house baby!”
Almost a year ago, Vin admitted that he really wanted the veteran actress to play a member of his family, explaining that the tenth and eleventh films would reveal more of his alter ego’s family tree.
He said, “We talked a lot about Mrs. Toretto, right from the start [me] returning for ‘F9’. So, I feel like there will be a time and a place to reveal this.
“Before we get to Mother Toretto, we will get to Abuela. And the person I’m so excited to talk about this role is Rita Moreno.”
And Rita then said that she liked the idea of joining the franchise.
In response to the 54-year-old actor’s comments, she said, “I’m waiting for his call. I think it’s an amazing idea. I hope he will dress me in black leather…”
