Operation Safe Travel: New Subway Security Program Launches Wednesday

“Operation Safe Travel begins Wednesday in Los Angeles County to improve public safety on public transit.

The program includes high visibility patrols by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on platforms and subway trains.

The homeless will no longer be allowed to live on platforms or loiter on trains. But the plan includes provisions to help the homeless with psychological assessment teams to be deployed as needed, along with homeless services, officials said.
