BEAUMONT, Texas. We expect further growth of the Golden Triangle. The main event, an entertainment venue similar to Dave And Busters, is coming to Beaumont.
Construction is underway on a site near I-10 and Walden Road. Many city officials stressed the need for new entertainment so that families could spend their money in Beaumont.
“It’s a regional attraction and we’re kind of a hub city, so people will drive, church groups, school groups, people will come. It will really be wonderful. ” said Dean Conwell of the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Conwell said the Main Event venue should be a real attraction.
“Not just for locals, but for visitors as well,” Conwell said. “I mean, you look at all these kids, thousands of kids come to Ford Park every weekend and play baseball, and once they’re done, what do they want to do? need to find aircon, something to eat, something to drink and it’s so close to ford park. [should be] be incredible.”
According to Conwell, the Main Event was recently bought by Dave And Busters.
He said the original plan was to open it by October, but that could be delayed closer to the holidays.
No matter when it opens, parents and children are delighted.
“Everyone is always looking for something new, and instead of going outside of our community and going to Houston or Lake Charles or Baton Rouge to find something new and exciting, let it come to us and let we had a choice, I think it’s fantastic for society,” said parent Chad Maida.
Maida said that everything the Main Event has to offer, including bowling, mini golf and even a food bar, will be a great place not only for kids but also for adults.
Parent Naomi Doyle agrees.
“Definitely appreciate the opportunity to go and find something right here to enjoy, and it’s also a good tourist spot here, right off I-10, so I think it’s also a good source of income for the city,” Doyle said. .
Conwell said the key to success is getting people off the freeway, so he believes having Ford fields, hotels and the main event just off I-10 will do just that.
