To United American singer Sam Olatunji, also known as Prexy Sam, said that for him music is not just people’s entertainment, but a vocation.
He said Sunday Scoop, “I started my career in an acapella group. We are now incorporating contemporary evangelical worship and worship into our music. My band, The Retum Brodaz, specializes in using pidgin English to communicate our ideas.
“For me, it’s not just singing to entertain people, I consider it my calling. No man can serve alone; we need people. So I will always sing in a band. However, I might release solo albums (from time to time) to better express what I’m called to.”
On how he managed to manage his group over the years, Olatunji said: “We are one big family. People can come and go as they please. However, there are those who play an active role (in the band), and they have been with us for a long time. Everyone cannot be part of a group; they must be “called” to it. Understanding the vision (of the group) is also very important.”
Speaking about his latest projects and the challenges he is facing at this point in his career, Prexy Sam said, “I just released a single called mighty god, and it’s available in digital stores. The album Retum Brodaz is also released. We (the band members) are currently working on a song that will be released soon called Hallelujah you.
