MTV Calls Jack Black a Comedy Genius | Entertainment

Jack Black received the Genius of Comedy award at the 2022 MTV Movie and TV Awards.

Hosted by Vanessa Hudgens, the ceremony will honor the actor, comedian and musician when it goes live on Sunday, June 5th.

It was in honor of Black, 52, who formed the band Tenacious D with Kyle Gass in 1994 before embarking on a global acting career.

His best-known roles include roles in the 2000 film High Fidelity alongside John Cusack, 2003’s School of Rock and most recently in the Jumanji franchise.

He also voiced the main character Po in the Kung Fu Panda films.

Black’s upcoming roles include film adaptations of the games, and he is set to voice Bowser in the untitled Super Mario Movie alongside Chris Pratt.

The actor was also chosen for the role of Claptrap in the movie Borderlands.

In 2018, Black launched a YouTube channel called “Jablinski Games”, which he said was about “games, food and life”.

Past recipients of the award include 2021 winner Sacha Baron Cohen, as well as Melissa McCarthy, Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell.

Last year, Tenacious D announced a US tour scheduled for the summer of 2022. The band will perform in Colorado, Oregon, San Diego, Palo Alto and other countries from June 16 to 26.

Black said the band is working on a new album due out in 2024 and called it “a very big idea that we’ve been working on for years”.
