Matthew Morrison left So You Think You Can Dance after not following “production protocols”.
The former Glee star left the show just a week after season 17 premiered and issued a statement explaining that his actions prevented him from “justly judging the competition”.
In a statement, he said, “The opportunity to be a judge on So You Think You Can Dance has been an incredible honor for me. Therefore, it is with deepest regret that I inform you that I am leaving the show.
“After filming the auditions for the show and completing the selection of 12 finalists, I did not follow the production protocols for the competition, which prevented me from judging the competition fairly.
“I can’t apologize enough to all involved and I’ll be watching with all of you for what I know will be one of the best seasons yet.”
Details of Matthew’s breach of protocol were not made public.
Matthew, 43, joined the panel of judges this season alongside JoJo Siwa and Steven “tWitch” Boss, with Cat Deely returning as host.
Many of the shows have been pre-recorded, so Matthew is expected to appear in future episodes throughout June before his replacement enters the second part of the season.
