EL PASO, TX (KTSM) — Crews will arrive Tuesday, May 31 to begin the I-10 West widening project, which will widen the Interstate from two lanes to three lanes on each side.

Construction will begin at I-10 Mesa and extend to the New Mexico state line.

The project budget is estimated at $174 million. These new lanes are expected to reduce the traffic duplication that occurs on this section of I-10.

Another part of the project will be to install more lights along the highway, as well as additional signs and warnings to prevent wrong traffic.
