A new ranking has been created to determine the best cities in terms of work-life balance. Based on Kisi, a cloud-based secure access control system designed to help businesses in various industries, it shows a list of the world’s top 100 cities for 2022 based on four criteria: “work intensity, society and institutions, legislation, and habitability.” For labor intensity, several factors have been studied, such as the percentage of remote jobs, the percentage of the overworked population, the number of minimum days off offered, and the number of days off taken. In the Societies and Institutions section, studies also appear on the impact of Covid in each city, access to mental health care, or even inclusion and tolerance. Happiness, safety, air quality are a few more criteria studied in the Quality of Life section.
6 of the top 10 cities in this ranking are European. The leaders are the capital of Norway, Oslo. On average, workers in Oslo, where air quality is fairly good, take 25 days of vacation a year and enjoy 707 days of paid parental leave. Paris was the first French city to make it into the rankings, ranking 28th.e position just outside London. The highest ranked US city is Seattle, at #32.e job title. The top five busiest cities include Dubai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Montevideo.
