Halsey’s new single “So Good” will be released on June 9th.
The ‘Control’ hitmaker – real name Ashley Frangipane – will be releasing a new song next week after they accused her record label of holding it back until “they can fake a viral moment” on TikTok.
The 27-year-old pop star’s label Capitol Music released a statement on Twitter with the caption: “@halsey we love you and are here to support you. We are committed to releasing ‘So Good’ on June 9, 2022.”
The label, whose books feature Katy Perry, Eitch, Lewis Capaldi, and Sir Paul McCartney, has said it intends to “keep these critical conversations going.”
The statement read: “We are the first artist company to encourage open dialogue. We have nothing but the desire to help each of our artists succeed, and we hope we can continue these critical conversations.”
The move came after the Closer hitmaker accused them of not allowing the song to be made available until they staged a “fake viral moment on TikTok”.
Halsey captioned the post on the video-sharing app: “Everything is marketing.”
In the video, they said, “I just want to release a musician. I deserve better.”
After news of the release date, the Grammy nominees admitted they “didn’t expect so much talk” while celebrating with their 10-month-old son Ender, who is fathered by partner Alev Aydin.
Halsey tweeted, “I didn’t expect this record to get so much talk,” they wrote. “All I know is that I wanted you guys to hear it and now you can. So Good, song June 9 and video the next day. Andy gave me flowers”
