George Miller was desperate to play Tilda Swinton in Fury | Entertainment

George Miller tried to play Tilda Swinton in Fury.

The 77-year-old filmmaker worked with the actress on his latest film, Three Thousand Years of Longing, and was desperate to find her in his prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, though he had no joy at the end. .

George told The Hollywood Reporter, “She’s really something. She is an artist and one of the wisest people I have ever known. It was the first thing I thought of.

“In Suspiria, she played three roles, one of which is an old man, so I thought she could play one of the men (in Furiosa). But, unfortunately, there was no role that would suit her. If you get a character to do a movie, they usually end up on the cutting room floor first.

“I would never do that to her, but I definitely wanted it to happen.”

The director also welcomed Tilda’s Three Thousand Years of Longing co-star Idris Elba and was impressed by the two stars’ collaboration on the project.

George said, “I have to say, he’s great. It was such a pleasure for me to watch them work together. It’s one thing to have characters on paper and in your head, and it’s quite another thing to see how actors show character.”

Miller previously confirmed that Furiosa will be a “saga” set over 15 years, with Anya Taylor-Joy playing the role played by Charlize Theron in Fury Road in the film.

He said, “All I can say about my excitement about this is that it’s definitely exciting because while it’s definitely not the same Fury Road world, it also has a lot of differences that we’ve talked about. .

“Again, this is uniquely familiar. And probably the biggest difference is the time span. Fury Road lasted three days and two nights, and this one lasted over 15 years. So it’s a saga.”
