Generation Z has been at the forefront of technological change in our lifestyles and media habits through the mass adoption of several elements in the web3 universe, as well as commercial production using web2 mechanics. New research by Vice Media Group and Publicis Groupe-owned agency Razorfish also confirms this theory.
A recent study titled The Metaverse Inside Out found that Gen Z spends more time in Metaverse-related scenarios and has a closer relationship with their online selves than any previous generation. 57% of respondents said they feel more free to express themselves online than in real life, and 45% said their digital identity is a more accurate interpretation of their character.
The definition of the Metaverse in the modern sense – without the potential mass adoption of the overall concept – is largely positioned around the multiplayer games that games like Fortnite have been using for years. Metaverse’s early revenue models are still based on the purchase of digital goods in the form of wearables or in-game rewards in the form of NFTs.
There has been a marked decline in gaming in terms of total population after age 18 in both the millennial and Gen X eras. There is now a consensus that young millennials and Gen Z will continue to digitally enter adulthood . Potentially making it a part of your business or daily life.
Brands are set to make the most of this and will likely be the first to respond in real time to the market and lifestyle trends of their consumers. The concept of having digital brand elements in the metaverse or in games was also seen by Gen Z respondents as a potentially viable option.
According to Gen Z popular social influencer and Mozverse co-founder Zach Hirsch, his generation’s transition to the digital world will not be an aberration.
“Young people are far more trendsetters than any other segment of society,” Hirsch said. “Whether through pop culture or as consumers, we are seen as the primary target audience for brands, corporations and businesses around the world.”
“We are the defining trendsetters and I think this will only rise with our acceptance of the metaverse. The generation after us will continue the trend I feel.”
Three years ago, Hirsch launched his Instagram account @ipickwins. He consistently picked over ninety percent of the games correctly. A host of celebrities and influencers began to follow his selection, including Jake Paul, Floyd Mayweather, Nate Burleson, Clinton Portis, Jadakiss, Fetty Wap, Bob Menery, Shane Mosley, Rashad Evans and Mike Leach.
Hirsch developed a reputation for going up against most of the better-known handicappers and choosing long shots. Before the start of the NFL’s final season, he selected the Los Angeles Rams as a sleeper draft for the Super Bowl and selected Dimitri Bivol to upset the overly popular Canelo Alvarez on a recent Fight Guys podcast.
Today, his Instagram account has over a million verified followers, whom he has now used to build Mozverse with tech entrepreneur Danny Mozlin, a startup that specializes in developing custom NFT marketplaces and Metaverse projects.
“Of all the choices I’ve made, I have the most confidence in Mozverse. I’m all for NFT, Web3, and the Metaverse.” Hirsch said.
Hirsch was also recently invited to co-host the sports podcast Worldstar Hip-hop alongside rapper Jadakiss. The format of Kiss and The Myst is a combination of sport and culture, and each episode features a new celebrity guest. They are currently filming in Miami after the season’s debut episodes were filmed in New York.
“Using Zach as Jada’s co-host was a bit risky due to his lack of experience, but after filming one episode, I realized it was a great decision. Both guys are different in sports and play with each other. That was great. work with them and observe their communication. I call them the Modern Odd Couple and see the show as a big success.” said Daniel Cotton, Worldstar COO and executive producer of the show.
Of his current pursuits and the integration of digital projects among his generation and others, Hirsch said, “I think sports, entertainment and business are starting to merge, and the metaverse is the future home for all of that. That’s why I’m so excited about Mozverse.”
“There are so many income opportunities for young people right now. More than ever before. I feel that the entertainment space will be an area particularly ripe for growth.”
