The Franklin Chamber Choir, Franklin’s first skilled choir, will carry out its debut live performance at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Franklin on July 2.
The group consists of 16 skilled singers from all around the nation. Christopher Keenan created the choir to meet his dream of introducing professional-level classical vocal ensembles to Franklin. He graduated from Centennial Excessive College in 2008 and studied organ on the Peabody Conservatory and the College of Texas at Austin earlier than serving as organist and music director for numerous church buildings.
“I’m very happy to current the Franklin Chamber Choir,” mentioned Keenan. “This venture was born out of a want to deliver a classical vocal ensemble into Franklin’s vibrant musical tradition. I hope he turns into a strong a part of the Franklin group.”
The choir will probably be directed by Keenan and Dr. Felicia Barber, who taught the choir at Centennial for a number of years earlier than changing into director of choral actions at Westfield State College in Massachusetts. Her first guide, A New Perspective on the Use of Dialect in African American Spirituals: Historical past, Context, and Linguistics, was launched in October 2021. She is going to host a collection of 4 spirituals.
The live performance is free to attend and is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church at 908 Murfreesboro Highway in Franklin.
