DUBAI, 5th June, 2022 (WAM) — Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST), part of the Dubai Economy and Tourism Department (DET), has celebrated sustainable practices across the city in commemoration of the 50th World Environment Day, aiming to further enhance Dubai’s position as a leading sustainable destination.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, DET sheds light on 50 of the city’s pioneering initiatives in environmental conservation and the sustainable development of the tourism ecosystem, from desert reserves to sustainable restaurateurs and eco-hotels, cultural events and ecotourism attractions. , which was created by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) as “a global platform for inspiring positive change”.
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on June 5 and is the United Nations’ primary vehicle for raising awareness and taking action to protect the environment.

Conservation and Nature Initiatives Dubai’s unique ecosystem has provided generations with sustainable conservation and a special connection to nature. Sustainable gastronomy Dubai’s gastronomy is rapidly evolving and constantly strives to become more sustainable through extensive technological upgrades in agriculture and food waste management. Restaurants across the city are shifting to using local ingredients to not only deliver on sustainability promises but also offer guests a more authentic experience.
Green Leisure & Wellness In the many leisure, health and fitness destinations available to both tourists and residents of Dubai, there is an ongoing drive towards greener and more environmentally friendly practices.
