Save the galaxy time with Starlord and company! Only this time you’ll have to do it in central Florida. This weekend, Disney Parks unveiled their Guardians of the Galaxy: Space Rewind attraction at EPCOT Walt Disney World, based on guardians of the galaxy movies. It is one of the longest indoor roller coasters in the world and took almost six years to build.
“We start off by making you feel like you’re on a very ordinary rollercoaster-like experience,” Disney says imaginatively. Tom Fitzgerald, telling ABC Audio it’s a far cry from the typical theme park ride where riders catapult backwards and catapult 360 degrees. “Without realizing it, we turn all the cars very subtly and suddenly, if you are in the first car, you are in the back car!”
There’s also Disney’s signature narration as you board the ride. “Our hook is Peter Quill. [Starlord] came to EPCOT as a child, back in the 80s,” says Zach Riddley, lead creative director of EPCOT. “The Xandarians are saying, ‘Hey, we want to bring the message of our culture, technology to Earth. What is one place? And they went to Starlord and he said, “EPCOT.”
And it wouldn’t be guardians no killer soundtrack. Six songs featured on Cosmic Rewind, including blonde“One way or another” and Earth Wind and Fire“September”. Choosing a playlist was no small feat, imagining Spencer Lynn For example, ABC Audio. But funny nonetheless. “We tested over 100 songs – we watched the actors run the ride and if they danced we were like, ‘Let’s keep this one, it’s probably going to be good in the long run!’
Guardians of the Galaxy: Space Rewind releases May 27 via EPCOT. Disney is the parent company of Disney Parks and ABC News.
