CEBU, Philippines — On Monday, May 30, the new administration of President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. introduced new members to its cabinet, including re-elected Mayor Liloan Ma Cristina Frasco.

At a press conference held in Manila, Marcos Jr.’s spokeswoman Trixie Cruz Angeles announced that five more appointees had accepted offers to join the new president’s cabinet.

Frasco was among them. She was appointed as the new secretary of the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Frasco won her bid for re-election as mayor of the city of Liloan in northern Cebu during the May 9 local elections. She is also currently the press secretary for Vice President-elect Sarah Duterte-Carpio.

Other new cabinet officials included broadcaster Erwin Tulfo of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD); Amena Pangandaman from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM); Ivan John Enrile Uy for the Department of Information and Communications (DICT); as well as Naida Angping for the presidential administration.

This is the second time that a Cebuano official has been in charge of the country’s tourism department.
