Bend Parkway reopens after crash with four injured cars as holiday travel period begins

Other accidents were reported in the region during a rainy start to the weekend

BEND, ore. (KTVZ) — A four-vehicle crash on the northern Bend Parkway (Route 97) closed the highway in both directions Friday afternoon, officials said.

It is reported that the accident occurred around 15:40 in the area of ​​milepost 135, not far from the “loop” of Highway 20, ODOT TripCheck indicated.

According to ODOT Region 4 spokesperson Casey Davey, the southbound lanes were closed after almost an hour as they were being used to bring ambulances to the scene. The southbound boulevard reopened around 4:30 pm and the northbound lanes were cleared an hour later.

It was one of several reported accidents, including two in the Redmond area, as the Memorial Day weekend travel period began with rain over much of the region.
