Atlanta is building an airport to reduce travel time

ATLANTA, GA (CBS46) — At one of the busiest airports in the US, a huge effort is being made to help officials expedite your airport journeys.

Construction crews build an 833-foot extension to the plane-train tunnel at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta.

The project, officials say, will increase capacity and help speed up travel for the train system’s 250,000 passengers a day.

Officials say train journey times will be cut by 20%, helping passengers get to their final destination faster than ever.

CBS46 News cameras captured work being done by construction crews 60 feet underground.

The project will be completed in about two years, officials said.
