The Sonoyta region in Southern Arizona is the first American Vineyard Area (AVA) in the United States. The Sonoita region, which differs in climate and soil characteristics from the Indicazone Geografica Tipica region in Italy, produces award-winning Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and other varieties.
